Ratings, not rankings
Junior tennis runs on ratings. Your UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) and WTN (World Tennis Number) move with every match you play, so the only way up is to keep playing people better than you. I compete in tournaments all year.
I played a season for Del Norte High School: about fifteen two-hour practices and fifteen matches against other schools. I also earned the Scholar Athlete Award for keeping my grades up while playing a school sport.

Teaching footwork to fifth graders
Every week I ran a 90 to 120 minute session for six 10- and 11-year-olds. I taught the basics, worked on their footwork and teamwork so they'd be ready for real match play, and kept the sessions fun.
